A Day In Waco Texas
When Traveling in from out of town using the Waco Regional Airport make sure to visit the Waco Suspension Bridge.
The Waco Suspension Bridge is the oldest suspension bridge still standing in Texas. Built in 1870, it was the first bridge across the Brazos River. This stunning bridge was built with cables supplied from John Roebling's firm, which built the Brooklyn Bridge. Today, it is a pedestrian-only bridge and is a wonderful place to watch the river roll by.
When visiting downtown Waco make sure to take a stroll down this historic bridge. Every time we go down its always a must to walk over the Brazos.
I can still recall a time when I was very young and we spent the day as a family downtown. I'll never forget looking up to see how high the cables reached out in to the blue sky. Wonderful maintenance by the city has kept this historic bridge looking great over the decades and hopefully for many more to come. We'll be throwing our next party within view of this landmark.
